Cam Angle Sensor Issues

Partial wiring diagram from a 1996...note difference between the REF and SYNC wires:

Motec info...note difference in wiring between the '96 wiring diagram and Motec info: (is a .PDF file so you need to download it to view.) This appears to be for a 1.6 CAS as they call it an "optical" sensor.

After 6 months of chasing a problem with how the car runs, found out that in Hall Effect, the Haltech only likes the Optical 1.6 Cam Angle Sensor.  Will not work in its current configuration with the Magnetic 1.8 version...
